Black Lives Matter. Period.

By RAHN ADAMS

What a world we live in.

Our heroes – old and young alike – are dying. Our new leader is a liar, and we who elected him – even we Christians who champion truth – knew it. Our choices aren’t choices at all. Everything seems inside out, upside down or backwards. Nothing makes sense. We can’t be sure of anything anymore.

Except who killed nine innocent people at Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, S.C., on June 17, 2015, and why he did it.

The who is irrelevant. We shouldn’t name one who murders to make a name for himself. He is no one.

The why is unequivocal and should be named: Racism. White supremacy. Hate. Fear. Ignorance. Gullibility.

I was shocked to hear the murderer laugh repeatedly – chortle was the word one reporter used – in his recorded confession played during his federal murder trial last week in Charleston. He laughed. Hours after killing nine innocent people. Because they were black.

Black lives matter.

It’s the truth. Nothing else needs to be said, and I shouldn’t have to say why. Again.
