We have been lost / for too long now, / ever since we stumbled down / from the mountaintop.

The gorge is deep; / its river is wild, / with crashing falls and the stony roar / of whitewater.
We cannot cross, / not without help, / though the other side is closer now / than ever before.
Rescuers come, / their hands extended, / so that if we slip, / they are in position to catch us.
But are we strong / enough to look and leap / now that we know / just how lost we have been?

Love this- sharing yet another side of yours and Timberly’s adventures. Your verses are so thought provoking and true.
Thanks, Brownie. Volunteering with you and the literacy council was also a career highlight. I wish I’d gone into ESL (and learned Spanish) from the start.
