I might have liked King David, if he had used this ghostwriter all along.<br><br>\u201cSet a guard, O Lord, over my mouth,\u201d the psalmist says. \u201cKeep watch over the door of my lips.\u201d He also declines to \u201ceat of [wicked men\u2019s] delicacies.\u201d<br><br>The figurative language alone tells me that this prayer was penned by a better poet than David. This guy knows his way around a metaphor or simile.<br><br>\u201cLet the righteous strike me,\u201d fake David adds. \u201cIt shall be a kindness. \/ And let him rebuke me; \/ It shall be as excellent oil; \/ Let my head not refuse it.\u201d<br><br>Wrapping up his petition, David\u2019s scribe observes, \u201cOur bones are scattered at the mouth of the grave, \/ As when one plows and breaks up the earth.\u201d<br><br>And finally, \u201cLet the wicked fall into their own [snares], \/ While I escape freely.\u201d Yes, there it is \u2014 the paranoia.
