The king wasn\u2019t thinking about sleep that day.<br><br>In turn, YHWH promised to prop up sinful King David and to ensure that \u201cthe fruit of [his] body \u2026 shall sit upon [his] throne forevermore.\u201d<br><br>What really mystifies me, though, is how the Ark of the Covenant, which contained the laws of Israel, is presented as \u201c[YAH\u2019s] strength.\u201d<br><br>How can something be a strength \u2014 like the Ten Commandments or like, say, our Constitution \u2014 if a weak man is greater than the law?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This \u201cSong of Ascent\u201d deals with David\u2019s pledge to build a temple to YHWH in Jerusalem, a promise unkept until son Solomon\u2019s rule.
